Dortmund sporting director makes fresh Jadon Sancho statement amid Man Utd interest

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director has spoken out over Jadon Sancho’s future again amid Manchester United’s continued interest.

The Englishman has been the subject of a transfer saga between the two sides throughout the summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side thought they had broken through after agreeing personal terms and agents fees with the 20-year-old.

But the German side’s stubborn stance over Sancho’s £108m valuation has seen the Red Devils question how much they want to continue pursuing the Englishman.

And it has seen club chief Sebastian Kehl sent a strong message over where the forward will play his football after the summer.

Speaking to German outlet ARD [via Twitter], the sporting director simply said: “Jadon Sancho will play this season at Borussia Dortmund.

“Otherwise, we are looking at the market, but are well positioned.”

It comes as United are already starting to consider ‘Plan B’, which would see them bring in two players to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports reporter James Cooper said: “United are looking at other alternatives and another strategy on top of that.

“There are games involved in transfers. United have had all sorts of pursuits for all sorts of players.

“With Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, they stamped their feet saying they wouldn’t pay – but they finally ended up paying what both those clubs, Leicester and Sporting Lisbon, wanted.

“I’ve been told this morning that won’t be the case with Jadon Sancho. There won’t be a capitulation last-minute with United writing the cheque.

“This ‘Plan B’ would be looking for a more experienced head on loan coupled with a younger player learning the ropes as well.

“It would be someone who is not a risk as well as someone they can bring through.

“The deal isn’t dead but it’s certainly gloomy when you talk to anyone about Jadon Sancho.”

One man who could come in as a Sancho replacement is Gareth Bale, who wants a Premier League return from Real Madrid.
