Dortmund deal Chelsea Erling Haaland transfer blow as Billy Gilmour tipped to impress on loan

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Sunday, July 11.

Haaland blow

Chelsea have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland after Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said that the club have the Norwegian in their plans ahead of next season.

Speaking to Bild, Zorc said: "Nothing has changed. We plan with Erling for the new season."

The German outfit announced that they have sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United last week for £72.9million and are unlikely to let go of Haaland in the same transfer window, meaning the Blues may be forced to look for a target elsewhere.

Bridge backs Gilmour

Former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge has backed Blues' youngster Billy Gilmour to thrive on loan with newly-promoted Norwich next season.

“I was surprised to see him go on a season-long loan to Norwich,” said Bridge. “But, I also understand the reason behind it.

“I think he has a huge future at Chelsea - still young but he has so much quality and plays with maturity. “

“Going out on loan can definitely help,” said the 2005 Chelsea Premier League champion. “A prime example being Harry Kane going to Leicester and then coming back and smashing it. The people that I know of who’ve been on loan, it’s always helped them mature and learn from the experience.”

Conte praises Jorginho

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has heaped praise on Blues' midfielder Jorginho ahead of Italy's Euro 2020 final clash with England at Wembley on Sunday.

“I think for Jorginho, it’s been very, very important to play in a league like England,” the former Chelsea boss told The Telegraph.

“Because to play in this competition in England, it’s important to play with intensity, to improve your passing and to be very, very fast in your thoughts.

“But at the same time, you have to improve physically.

“In England, Jorginho improved a lot, and he is now a stronger player.
