Jadon Sancho will be staying at Borussia Dortmund next season, according to the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc, handing a boost to Chelsea.
Sancho enjoyed a phenomenal season last time out for Dortmund - scoring 17 goals and providing the same amount of assists in the Bundesliga.
The English forward’s sensational form for the German side has made him one of the hottest properties in European football.
Various media outlets reported that Sancho was a target for the Blues, as well as Premier League rivals Manchester United - with the latter pushing to complete a deal ahead of the 2020-21 season.
However, according to Dortmund’s sporting director Zorc, he will be playing his football at Signal Iduna Park next season.
“We plan with Jadon Sancho. He’ll play for us next season. The decision is final. I think that answers all of the questions,” Zorc said, via Dortmund’s official Twitter page.
That provides a boost for Chelsea as it provides them with an opportunity to enter the market for the winger's services next year.
Sancho already has experience at an English side - Manchester City - where he spent just over a year playing for the club’s academy.
Dortmund recognised the 20-year-old’s unique talent, though, and brought him in for around £10m back in August 2017.
