Dortmund boss Lucien Favre warns Jadon Sancho he still has "a lot to learn" amid Man Utd links

Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre has urged Jadon Sancho to stay with the club and continue to build on his superb recent development.

Sancho is a wanted man this summer, with Manchester United known to be desperate to sign the forward after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the 20-year-old his No.1 transfer target.

The two teams are thought to be some way apart in terms of agreeing a fee for the player, however, and it is looking more and more likely Sancho may be denied a dream move to Old Trafford.

Despite scoring a hugely impressive 17 goals and creating 16 assists in the Bundesliga this season, Favre insists Sancho can still get better, and has pinpointed the aspects the England international could still improve.

Speaking to Der Westen , Favre said: "It is important that he stays with us. That is of course also important for the team. Sancho is of course a very good player but he must also have in mind that he still has a lot to learn.

"He needs to have better control of the ball, to do more headed flick-ons and to improve his defending.

"He can’t just stop running and stand still for 10 minutes and then suddenly do something for the next 10 minutes. This applies to everyone else as well."

Dortmund are thought to be unwilling to budge on their £108m valuation of Sancho, and it looks as though negotiations could drag on until the very end of the transfer window.

United are believed to be starting to consider alternatives, and have reportedly entered discussions with the agents of Douglas Costa, who is surplus to requirements at Juventus.

Juve are keen to offload the 29-year-old and a move to United could suit both parties if the Red Devils are unable to get the Sancho deal over the line.
