Dork Diaries: Once Upon A Dork by Rachel Renee Russell - review

Rachel Renee Russell, Dork Diaries: Once Upon a Dork

Dork Diaries: Once upon a dork by Rachel Renée Russell is one of many best selling books in the Dork Diaries series. If you liked previous stories in the series, this latest book doesn't disappoint. It is written in the style of first person which gives the sense that a young teenage girl has written it. The cover is patterned with pink kaleidoscope effect and diamonds which really catches your eye and helps you with the theme of the book.

In this story Nikki Maxwell, the diary writer, has a terrible PE lesson. A ball hits her on the head and she falls unconscious. She has a dream that her and her friends are in a fairytale. Her quest is to find the Wizard of Odd! On the journey she encounters some strange situations with some strange people, all with the help of some stylish shoes!

I enjoyed the way it was written like a diary as it gives you the sense that you are seeing it through her eyes. I liked it so much that it has inspired me to write a diary story! It is funny because she goes through so much drama in her life and makes you laugh. I would recommend this to Dork Diaries fans, Tom Gates fans and anyone who likes a good comedy book.
