Dopey drug dealer caught out after cocaine left under car seat

A dopey drug dealer was caught out by police after a wrap of cocaine was left under a car seat.

David Woods, 42, attempted to hide over 30 wraps of class A drugs.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Tuesday (September 15) how Woods was a passenger when officers stopped the car in Tuebrook and spied a single wrap of cocaine on under the driver's seat.

Mike Stevenson, prosecuting, told the court that this prompted officers to arrest Woods, of Little Moss Hey, Stockbridge Village, on January 23 this year.

A further search at a police station found 26 wraps of crack cocaine with a street value of £260 and six wraps of heroin with a street value of £60.

Woods admitted possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

The court heard Woods has had four convictions in the last 18 months including offences of drug driving.

Mark Philips, defending, yesterday told the court that Woods was "used" and "vulnerable".

He said: "Clearly he wasn't making lots of money, he was a man on benefits paying off a drug debt. He was clearly used."

Mr Philips asked the judge to consider his prompt guilty plea.

Judge Stuart Driver, QC, sentenced Woods to a two and a half year prison sentence.

He will serve half of the sentence behind bars and half on licence.
