A dopey BMW driver handed over two cannabis joints after being pulled over by Greater Manchester Traffic Police in the early hours of this morning.
It's been a busy morning across the network for officers, with a number of suspects arrested and reported for motoring offences.
First up was a BMW driver arrested on suspicion of drug driving at Bolton Road, Bury. The suspect failed a roadside drug test after being caught red handed in possession of cannabis joints.
GMP Traffic tweeted at 12.57am: "The BMW 1 series was stopped on Bolton Road Bury. The driver presented #ME18 with 2 cannabis joints and then failed a roadside drug test. #arrested #fatal4 @NWmwaypolice"
GMP were also on hand to spot another motorist who raced past their patrol car on Ashton Old Road, Manchester and then slammed on the brakes. The GMP patrol intercepted the driver who failed a roadside breathalyser and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving
GMP tweeted at 1.33am: "The driver of this Astra braked heavily when he overtook #XTS8 at speed. The vehicle was stopped a short time later where the driver provided a +ve specimen of breath.
"He went on to fail to provide a sample in custody and will be charged later this morning."
Another motorist was flagged for careless driving on the M60 by ignoring roadworks warning signs. The driver was was issued with a Traffic Offence Report TOR.
GMP tweeted at 1.30am: "The driver of this vehicle chose to ignore the red X sign on the M60 earlier. This was in place to protect roadworkers further along the carriageway. Stopped by #XT78 off network and issued with a TOR"
