Doors The Great Outdoors Release Date – Floor 3 Sneak Peeks & Updates 2025

Doors is lining up their biggest update yet to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. The update is titled the Great Outdoors Update, and it will bring a new floor to explore, items to collect, and entities to survive. Read on to learn about Doors The Great Outdoors release date and everything else we know about the new subfloor.

Doors The Great Outdoors Release Date - Everything We Know

Many have been anticipating a DOORS update, eagerly awaiting to explore the newest floor, but the Great Outdoors have already outdone our expectations just by the fact that it's OUTDOORS! We finally get to go outside!

Official Release Date & Timeline for The Great Outdoors

The Great Outdoors Update will be releasing on August 10, 2025. However, despite all the social media chatter, the trailer confirms that the Great Outdoors is not Floor 3. As shown in the trailer and clearly mentioned in the trailer’s video description, the Great Outdoors is a new subfloor linked to The Hotel (first floor)

For the first 15 days of the update, from August 10 to August 25, everyone will have free access to play the Great Outdoors for free through the Lobby. After that, you’ll either have to pay 10 Stardust (new currency) to enter it directly from the Lobby.

The developers also shared their plans to lock the Great Outdoors down the lane. When that happens, you must reach Door 90 to unlock the subfloor once. After that, you’ll be able to skip the Hotel and enter the Outdoors directly from the Lobby using Stardust.

Sneak Peeks & Revealed Content

The trailer offered plenty of the Great Outdoors sneak peeks, revealing new entities, item skins, currencies, and even showcasing the environment of the new subfloor. Here’s a breakdown of everything revealed in the trailer

New Entities - The Caws, Groundskeeper, Vine Monster

  • The Caws are a new animal entity on the Outdoors subfloor. They are similar to crows in their appearance, behavioral pattern, and noise. Whether they are hostile or not remains to be seen.
  • The Groundskeeper was previously teased in the Reveal Teaser. He wears a spikey hat, gardening gloves, and covers his face, and has arms made of tree branches. Despite his appearance, the Groundskeeper is a human entity, or at least has human-like intelligence. He wields a scythe and can be seen attacking players who enter his lawn. The Groundskeeper also has a bunch of keys hanging on his waist, which the players may or may not have to acquire. The Groundskeeper can also be seen killing some vines and fighting a Vine Monster at the end of the trailer.
  • Snare will also appear on the Great Outdoors subfloor, trapping and slowing down players as usual.

Since the Outdoors is a subfloor to the Hotel, chances are that most of the major entities of the Hotel floor can enter the Outdoors as well.

Environmental Features

The Outdoors is a nature-themed subfloor that almost feels like a dense forest. But, in reality, it is a closed, park-like area with large trees, sheds, and multiple sitting areas. Trees will fall randomly, and sudden lightning strikes will light up the entire map at regular intervals. There are two different types of lightning strikes- white and green. The green lightning could be an indicator of an entity spawn or a change in the environment.

Vines with thorns are spread across the entire map and could potentially be harmful to anyone who comes close. Light poles are installed to guide players and lighten up the otherwise dark subfloor.

Randomly placed closets will protect you from the entities roaming the Outdoors. You can also enter some of the sheds to find useful items and hide.

An important item to look for on the Outdoors subfloor is the wooden boxes covered in vine branches. Open those boxes to collect Stardust, the new currency, and find more valuable items.

There’s also plenty of ‘don’t step on the grass’ boards that might be indicating the presence of a Snare or Vine trap nearby.

Progression System Updates in DOORS

The overall gameplay and progression system won’t be that different from The Hotel and The Mines. You still have to find different items, hide from entities, and work together to survive for as long as you can.

The only difference is that on the Outdoors subfloor, you have to open steel gates instead of wooden doors and focus more on finding and opening wooden boxes to collect Stardust.

Stardust is a new currency being added to the game that players can buy or find from drawers and boxes. It is going to be a very rare item and will allows players to skip to subfloors. Knobs  will be another important item as you will need them to buy new item skins. New badges like ''Touch the Grass'' and ''A New Start'' are up for grabs, too.

Another valuable change to the players it that you will be able to create saves between floors and pick up from where you left off.

How to Prepare for The Great Outdoors

Everyone will want a taste of The Outdoors during the free access days, but it’s a harder subfloor that you can only survive if you have the right items and follow the right strategies. Some of the essential items you should stockpile before the update are:

  • Flashlight, Spotlight, Straplight.
  • Bandages.
  • Batteries.
  • Gween Soda, Smoothie.
  • Crucifix.
  • Shears.
  • Skull Key.
  • Revive.

Strategies from Floor 2 That May Apply

Unlike The Mines (Floor 2), the new subfloor is a wide and open area with rain falling down, thunder sounds echoing around, and lightning strikes happening over and over. Strategies from the closed areas like Floor 1 and Floor 2 might not be effective in the Outdoors. That said, strategies and style you follow in the Greenhouse area should work in the Outdoors too.

  • Always have a source of light.
  • Pay close attention to the sounds as lights might not always be on.

If more entities from the Hotel do make their way to the Outdoors, you can use the same strategies to avoid them and continue progressing. You will have to learn about the new entities and adapt your playstyle accordingly.

You definitely want to redeem all the Roblox Doors Codes gather Knobs and Revives so you can continue venturing into the Great Outdoors.
