Doorbell camera catches council bin lorry crashing into car before driving off

Shocking footage captured by a doorbell camera shows a bin lorry reversing into a car before promptly driving off.

The video shows resident Jordan Edward's Citreon DS3 being struck by the bin wagon, with a caught worker saying "oh no" while holding his hand over his face as he watches the crash.

According to Wales Online, the car was knocked roughly two metres from where it was parked,

Since being shared online, the clip has been watched by thousands, with many slamming the refuse workers for fleeing the scene without informing the owner of the vehicle.

Jordan has since received an apology from Wrexham council after contacting them about the incident.

Speaking to North Wales Live, he said: "Discovering the car had been involved in a crash this way left me angry and frustrated.

"The car is insured so that’s no major issue, but what got me more was the fact that there really was no attempt for the driver of the wagon to find the owner. The footage captured the wagon reversing into the car, and then driving off - at no point was there a time where he got out of his car and knocked any doors in the street.

“Thankfully, the incident was caught on camera. The audacity to act like it didn’t happen left me livid, and worried how, if it wasn’t captured on camera, I would have to fork out a bill and claim off my own insurance for a crash that I’ve not been involved in.

“Since reporting the issue, I have had several phone calls where the council have said they will make right what was done wrong but in the meantime I’m sat waiting for an answer on whether my car is a write-off or not.

“It makes me wonder how many other people may have had their cars damaged, and nothing done about it because they weren't fortunate enough to capture it on CCTV."

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “This incident was reported to the supervisor and to 101 when the owner of the vehicle could not be found.

“We have now been in touch with the owner and passed on our apologies and insurance details so the matter can be progressed.”
