Door specialist Bradbury welcomes former JCB executive as new group MD

Leading steel door manufacturer Bradbury Group has appointed a new group managing director as it expands its senior leadership team.

The Scunthorpe giant, which has set out to become a world-class manufacturer and provider of physical security solutions, has made the move to help it achieve the vision.

Richard Butler takes the role after a three decade career with JCB, where he held several senior positions.

Founder Tim Strawson becomes group chairman, leading the board and focusing on strategic direction.

He said: “I am delighted that Richard has joined the business as group managing director. Richard has a wealth of experience in managing business operations, which I know will help us on our journey to becoming world-class.”

Having just celebrated a year in new premises on Foxhills Industrial Estate, the appointment comes with two non-executive director appointments.

Oliver Hoffman, head of mergers and acquisitions at Mazars, advises UK-based and international companies on growth, acquisitions and financial transactions and Julian Cook, former Vistage Group chairman, has 12 years of experience in coaching business owners and directors.

Together they will oversee the four subsidiaries, Bradbury Security, Newton Security Doors, Martin Roberts, and Liddle Doors.

Mr Butler, who also spent a year at Optare Plc as chief executive, said: “These key changes to the leadership team are a positive step to support the group’s ambitious growth plans across all of its divisions. We will continue to focus on product development and operational excellence, ensuring that we place our customers at the heart of all of our activities.

“We have ambitious plans for the group and its subsidiaries, which we look forward to sharing with the industry in the near future.”

Mr Strawson was named Lifetime Achievement Award winner at the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards in 2019. The latest acquisition was Liddle Doors, a Durham-based operation working in the utilities sphere.

High end architectural operator Martin Roberts is based in London, with a strong portfolio in major City builds, with communal entrance specialist Newton Security Doors in Irvine.
