Door opens to Arsenal and Man United to sign Christian Eriksen as Tottenham make decision

Jose Mourinho has no interest in re-signing Christian Eriksen at Tottenham, opening the door for Premier League rivals.

Eriksen left Spurs on a deal reportedly worth more than £20million last January ahead of his contract expiring, joining Inter Milan on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

But things haven't panned out in Serie A for Eriksen with Inter chief Giuseppe Marotta already open to the idea of offloading the Danish midfielder.

And according to Football Insider, Spurs were actually offered the chance to re-sign Eriksen, who was a popular figure during his time in north London.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was desperate to convince Eriksen to stay with a new contract, the saga starring on the club's All or Nothing Amazon documentary.

Levy was unsuccessful and eventually sold the midfielder to avoid losing him for free, but football is a fickle game and according to the report, Spurs actually passed on the opportunity of bringing Eriksen back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Football Insider claim a club source told them that Mourinho simply responded with a 'no thanks' when offered the opportunity to sign Eriksen.

It has been claimed that Eriksen's agents are heavily touting him ahead of the winter window with Spurs and other Premier League clubs approached. Tottenham's decision to pass on the potential deal will now open the door for others, including the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, who have been linked at one stage or another.

Inter chief Marotta recently told Sky Italy: “If by January Eriksen has played little, he will himself ask to leave.

“We have to do it without any controversy from one side or the other, simply by considering it as a positive transfer move that has not been functioning for our technical-tactical needs.”

Eriksen has made nine appearances for Inter across all competitions so far this season, starting just three times in the league.
