'Doomed' - Man United fans in meltdown after losing out to Leeds United over Jean-Kevin Augustin

Manchester United fans are in meltdown after losing out Leeds United in the race to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin.

The Whites confirmed the loan addition of the Red Bull Leipzig striker on Monday, with the club holding an option to buy at the end of his deal.

It proved the perfect tonic for fan base, who were delighted to see a third and final face join the club this month.

However, across in Manchester, United fans haven't been quite so fortunate.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still awaiting a first January arrival, despite their very own month-long striker hunt.

Erling Haaland dealt them an early blow after opting to join Borussia Dortmund, whilst negotiations over Bruno Fernandes are at a frustrating standstill.

To add salt to the wounds, The Athletic report that Manchester United made a last-ditch attempt to sign Augustin before he penned his loan deal with Leeds.

However, the striker was adamant he wanted to work with Marcelo Bielsa thus ending any discussion over a move to Old Trafford.

With Manchester United supporters already protesting against the club's owner, the Glazer family, and Chief Executive Ed Woodward, who has proved an unpopular appointment, this most recent transfer blow has left them fuming.

Bielsa confirmed that Augustin was unlikely to make his debut against Millwall on Tuesday night, meaning Leeds supporters will have to wait until Saturday against Wigan Athletic to get a first glimpse of their new signing.
