
For fans of "Doom" and "Doom Eternal," there is something new to look forward to as the prequel of these two games is now out for players to enjoy.

'Doom: The Dark Ages'
Released on May 15, 2025, "Doom: The Dark Ages" is developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is available on the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
The story of the prequel is set several years before "Doom" and follows the journey of the Doom Slayer. The goal of the Doom Slayer is to save humanity amidst the war against Hell.
Players can expect an experience full of dark fantasy and even sci-fi that also involves the discovery of never-before-seen realms in the franchise's history.
'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam
As of press time, "Doom: The Dark Ages" has more than 19,000 user reviews on Steam. These have been categorized as "Very Positive."
"Another entry, another twist on the formula, another banger," Steam user Smomeh said in a review. "They simply never miss."
"The new engine is stunning and as always runs like butter, assuming you have the hardware to support it," Smomeh added.
"'Doom' 2016 and 'Doom Eternal' became my favorite FPS games of all time, without a doubt," user Kaazii said in a separate review. "I was so incredibly excited for 'Doom: The Dark Ages,' and it delivered on every end imaginable."

Over at Google Reviews, "Doom: The Dark Ages" is enjoying a 4.1-star rating as of press time.
"If you're a longtime 'Doom' fan or just someone who thrives on razor-sharp combat and adrenaline-fueled gameplay, 'Doom: The Dark Ages' is everything you've been waiting for—and then some," said Google user Richard Plasencia. "The combat here is inventive, addictive, and endlessly rewarding."
"I've been playing 'Doom: The Dark Ages' since its release last week — and so far, it's an absolute blast," Paul Glossop said in a separate Google review. "While I usually dip into a first-person shooter for a quick 30-60 minute adrenaline hit, the addictive action has had me glued to the screen for longer."
