Cleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard is the first NFL veteran player to get placed on the new reserve/COVID-19 list.
Hilliard appeared as one of six names on the initial list published on the NFL’s transaction wire over the weekend. The third-year RB is the only player on the list that is not an undrafted rookie.
Players placed on the list either tested positive or are in close quarantine contact with someone who is infected with the COVID-19 virus. Hilliard was among the Browns players who were tested on Friday in advance of reporting to training camp.
The Browns have another player on the list besides Hilliard. Undrafted rookie safety Jovante Moffatt also appears on the new list, a creation of the agreement between the NFL and NFLPA establishing protocols for football during the global pandemic.
