Donte Moncrief’s dad predicted his son would be a Steeler

Sometimes it is just destiny. This is probably what wide receiver Donte Moncrief’s dad thinks after his son signed a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Moncrief sat down to talk about his journey to the Steelers after spending 2018 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and said no one is happier than his dad.

According to Moncrief, his dad is a huge Steelers’ fan and even predicted Moncrief would end up in Pittsburgh. When Moncrief got the call in the middle of the night he couldn’t believe it and figured once he told his dad, he’d take credit for it. Regardless of how it happened, we are just glad it did.

You can’t really look at 2018 with a critical eye for Moncrief. He only caught 48 passes in 14 starts but had to deal with some terrible quarterback play in Jacksonville.

Now Moncrief comes to Pittsburgh and has a real shot to start opposite JuJu Smith-Schuster. If the potential Moncrief has flashed over the past five seasons is real, Ben Roethlisberger will be the guy to get it out of him.
