"Dont use too much loo roll" and other bizarre 'house rules' guests have had to follow

When we visit family and friends we're used to taking our shoes off at the door - but there are some other very bizarre house rules out there.

Over half of Brits admit to having rules for guests, with no smoking in the house another pretty common request.

But there also some strange things that people have been asked to do by their hosts and now the top ten weirdest have been revealed by SCS.

  1. Don't sit on any furniture - please sit on the floor
  2. Don't use too much loo roll
  3. Tell the cat you like him, or he won't forgive you
  4. No non-vegan food is allowed in the house
  5. Wash your hands and feet before entering the living area
  6. Don't eat too many biscuits when offered
  7. Don't sit on my dead dog's side of the sofa
  8. Take your shoes and socks off
  9. Don’t put too much weight on the cushion when you put your head back
  10. No talking at the dinner table

“I have had people tell me it’s selfish to dictate what other people can eat in my house, and I sympathise with that, but I do find it insulting when (after many years of being vegan) people ask me if they can bring their own meat. If you’re coming to my house, you have to follow the rules.”
