Donovan Peoples-Jones wins Week 6’s ‘Angry Runs Scepter’

The Cleveland Browns did not have a lot to celebrate in Week 6. Injuries, injuries and more injuries continued to haunt the team going into the game and coming out of the game.

The one bright spot from the game was the continued rise of second-year wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. After a great training camp, the former sixth-round pick was quiet early in the season but has come on in the last two weeks.

In Week 6, Peoples-Jones contributed Cleveland’s only two touchdowns. The second came at the end of the second quarter on a 57-yard hail mary pass from Baker Mayfield. The former Michigan Wolverine didn’t high point the ball perfectly but he boxed out defenders and hauled in the touchdown to pull the Browns to within single digits going into halftime.

His first touchdown was more traditional as he ran a crisp route, Mayfield threw a perfectly on-time pass and Peoples-Jones did the rest. “The rest” earned him NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt’s Angry Runs Scepter:

Unfortunately, Brandt also had some kind of Harry Potter theme going this week (much of which this writer did not understand).

The Angry Runs Scepter is usually, but not always, given out to running backs but Peoples-Jones’ willingness to lower his shoulder and level the defensive back before scoring earned the honor in Week 6.
