Donny van de Beek transfer claim should offer Arsenal and Tottenham hope amid Man United links

Donny van de Beek is expected to leave Ajax in the summer, according to reports.

The Dutch midfielder impressed last season with his performances in the Champions League as Ajax reached the semi-finals.

Van de Beek starred in both legs against holders Real Madrid, scored a crucial goal to spark a comeback against Juventus and netted the only goal of the game in the semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ajax sold Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer, but managed to keep hold of Van de Beek despite interest from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Premier League round-up: Liverpool maintain lead

But former Ajax star Hedwiges Maduro believes the midfielder would be a perfect signing for Arsenal or Tottenham.

"Van de Beek is of the same level as [former Everton midfielder Davy] Klaassen", Maduro told Dutch broadcaster NOS in the summer.

"He is also a good player, but his next choice will be important.

"At Manchester City or Barcelona, he could be playing the same style of football as Ajax, but I think it would a level too high for him.

"The category of clubs below that should be a possibility.

"Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Valencia or Sevilla - those kinds of clubs.

"Arsenal would suit him in style."

According to Sky Sports , Van de Beek remains on Real Madrid's radar while United are also interested, but he has stated that he won't leave Amsterdam in the current transfer window.

However, the 22-year-old has confirmed that he is open to a move to the Premier League in the summer should an offer be made.

"It is not that I can or want to do something at the moment," Van de Beek told  FOX Sports Netherlands .

"I have said it before, and I will say it again: I will remain at Ajax this season. And maybe next season as well.

"These reports about Real Madrid or Man United are a good sign, but it is not important now. I've said I will stay at Ajax and I will do so for 100 per cent."
