Donny Van de Beek is a shadow of the player he was at Ajax and won't work at Manchester United according to former Netherlands international Marciano Vink.
Van de Beek moved to Old Trafford in a £40m deal last summer from the Eredivisie champions, but was restricted to just 511 minutes of Premier League action in his debut campaign as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to stick with Bruno Fernandes more often than not.
And despite an impressive pre-season campaign in which the Dutch midfielder bulked up to get more physical, he found himself as an unused substitute against Leeds in the opening Premier League game of the season once again.
Vink, who played 138 times for Ajax between 1988 and 1993, believes that the tremendous form of Fernandes means Van de Beek is 'wasting away' at Man United and he doesn't see it turning around any time soon.

"He is wasting away at United," he told Voetbal Zone.
“Of course he has one of the best, currently number tens in Europe as a competitor. Bruno Fernandes is fantastic. If you see what he did against Leeds United last weekend… I think you get really small on the bench, you want to go home and kick in all the doors there.”

Van de Beek will be hoping to get some more minutes when United travel to St Mary's to take on Southampton in the Premier League this weekend.
