Donny van de Beek to Manchester United a 'dream come true' says Dutchman's father with 'medical ongoing'

Donny van de Beek’s father has described his son’s proposed move to Manchester United as a ‘dream come true’ with the midfielder set to undergo a medical with the Premier League side.

United are closing in on a £40m deal for the Ajax star with transfer talks progressing significantly over the weekend.

Reports in Netherlands claim Van de Beek has now been given permission to leave the Netherlands training camp to undergo a medical with his new club.

“This is a dream come true,” Andre van de Beek told Omroep Gelderland. “Our local village is very proud.

“It’s the perfect moment for him to make this step to such a beautiful club, but Ajax will always remain in our heart.

“A lot of clubs were interested, but Donny took this decision himself.”

United stepped up their pursuit after initially weighing up a move in January.

They have monitored his situation ever since, well aware of Real Madrid’s interest in bringing him to the Bernabeu.
