Donny van de Beek has revealed a potential ankle injury following Manchester United's win against Southampton.
The Dutchman made his first Premier League start since joining United from Ajax in the summer and was on the receiving end of a strong challenge from Saints midfielder James Ward-Prowse in the first-half.
Van de Beek cried out in pain after being caught by the Southampton goal scorer just minutes after Oriol Romeu had clattered into Bruno Fernandes.
Ward-Prowse was booked for the challenge and Van de Beek played the full game as United came from behind to win thanks to another Fernandes goal and a brace from substitute Edinson Cavani.
After the game, Van de Beek posted an image of his swollen ankle after the challenge by Ward-Prowse.
He wrote on Instagram: "Welcome to the Premier League."
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eased fears that David de Gea could be set for a spell out after the goalkeeper was replaced by Dean Henderson at half-time.
The Spaniard required treatment on a knee problem after attempting to save the free-kick that saw Southampton double their lead at St. Marys.
Solskjaer said: "A knock just above the knee, hopefully he’ll be OK for Wednesday," Solskjaer told MUTV when asked about De Gea's fitness. "Dean came on and was very assured."
