Donny van de Beek sent Chelsea and Manchester United transfer message

Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek has been advised to join Chelsea in the next transfer window over other Premier League clubs, amid interest from Manchester United.

The Dutch international was one of a number of stars that remained with the Eredivisie side last summer after their Champions League heroics, while Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong moved to Juventus and Barcelona respectively.

However, another exodus is on the cards from the Dutch side this summer with Hakim Ziyech already securing an agreement to move to Chelsea and Van de Beek is expected to follow him out of the door.

A host of clubs are interested in his services, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United, but former Chelsea winger Jesper Gronkjaer believes the Blues are a better fit.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Van de Beek at Real Madrid or Barcelona but I would rather see him at a club just below that. For his style of play alone, clubs like Tottenham or Chelsea would be a better fit,” Gronkjaer told Goal .

"They are still top clubs and he is more like Frank Lampard, that kind of player. He is a big guy, box-to-box and takes good long shots, but he is not as technically gifted as other players that have come from Ajax. He is a player you can always get a certain level from.”

The 23-year-old has impressed again in the 2019/20 season with 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, including two goals and one assist in five Champions League appearances.
