Donny van de Beek's prediction about Hakim Ziyech proved right after first two Chelsea goals

Hakim Ziyech's Chelsea career is up and running following a delayed start.

The 27-year-old was actually the first of many summer arrivals after the Blues agreed a £33.4m deal with Ajax, which could rise to a maximum of €44m (£36.7m) shortly after the January transfer window closed.

However, Chelsea fans had to wait until after the October international break to see Ziyech in action.

That was because he sustained a knee injury in the pre-season draw with Brighton and Hove Albion in August, meaning he missed the Premier League opener against the same opposition as well as the Liverpool loss, the 3-3 draw at West Brom, the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, and Carabao Cup ties against Barnsley and Tottenham Hotspur.

With that said, Ziyech's competitive debut for the west London outfit came in the draw against Southampton and then made two further substitute appearances against Sevilla as well as Manchester United.

And after easing the playmaker back into action, head coach Frank Lampard's patience has been rewarded this week as the Morocco international has marked starts against Krasnodar and Burnley with goals.

Taking Ziyech's general performance in both games into consideration, it would appear that he's set to do very well at Chelsea.

This was Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek's prediction from earlier in the year.

Speaking to Votebal Primeur back in February, prior to when Ziyech's switch to Stamford Bridge had been finalised, van de Beek explained: "Yes, if I hear all the reports, I will assume that it is already far.

"I wish him everything and hope he will do very well there. It is a step he deserves in my opinion.

"He is a fantastic football player, so I am confident that he will do well.

"I think it's a very nice club with a lot of young players that can grow. I think Hakim will certainly be in [the right] place.

"Everyone, of course, had their opinion about that, but I think it's a nice club for him."
