Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Jadon Sancho will 'come good' for Manchester United after he started on the bench for the fourth successive match.
Sancho has not started for United since the 4-2 defeat at Leicester on October 16 and he was a late entrant in their 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta.
The 21-year-old has still not registered a goal or an assist in his 12 appearances since his £72.9million transfer to United and he is not expected to start in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday. Sancho's England squad place is also in jeopardy, with Gareth Southgate scheduled to confirm his selections for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino on Thursday.
Sancho emerged with Donny van de Beek late on in Bergamo with United still 2-1 down and Solskjaer felt the Dutchman had a notable role in Cristiano Ronaldo's stoppage-time equaliser.
"I think the qualities they have could make an impact tonight," Solskjaer said. "Jadon was sharp, we wanted a little more width on the side because we put Edinson on and lacked a bit of that width. Bruno [Fernandes] played well and you want him out there but I felt we needed a little more width to get crosses in for Edinson or Cristiano.
"Donny provided the run for the last goal. He keeps working and he's got qualities in there to unlock close defences and he almost scored as well. I thought all of them who came on did well.
"I come into crime every time I pick a team because players get left out. Tottenham went a different system, today still a different system with a back five.
"Jadon will come good. He has a great work-rate and attitude, he was really sharp when he came on, the first header he cleared for us and he was sharp on the ball. So they'll all have a big role to play and he'll have many, many years as a good player here."
Eric Bailly was recalled for just his second appearance of the season and excelled in an otherwise shaky defence. Bailly only started due to the absence of the injured Victor Lindelof but acquitted himself impressively in a back three and then in a two-man defence when Raphael Varane was forced off with a hamstring strain in the first-half.
"Eric did well," Solskjaer noted. "He's not played for us for a little while, he's played for the international team, he's trained really well. Eric wanted to prove himself, wanted to show what he can do and he was important for us.
"He had a couple of blocks only Eric can do and he'll take a lot of encouragement from this performance."
