Donny van de Beek gives Man Utd transfer boost with Real Madrid statement

Donny van de Beek has played down suggestions that he is set to leave Ajax for Real Madrid this summer.

Van de Beek has been attracting the interest of some of Europe's top clubs since the end of last season after helping his side to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Manchester United and Real are among the teams who have been linked with the 22-year-old, with some reports suggesting that a £45milllion move to the Bernabeu has already been agreed.

But Van de Beek said that his future has yet to be decided, describing the claims as "premature", and insisted that he is in no rush to leave the Amsterdam club.

“It makes no sense I can’t control what people say,” Van de Beek was reported as telling Algemeen Dagblad (via SPORT).

“I think it is premature. I have often said: I will not hurry; I am fine here.”

However, the Dutch international didn't completely rule out a switch to the Bernabeu in the future, adding: "If it happens, it happens."

Following a number of impressive performances for Ajax last season, Van de Beek has provided eight goals and four assists in 19 league games for Erik ten Hag's side this season.

The Dutch champions are already set to lose one of their big names this summer after confirmation that they have agreed a deal to sell Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea.

The Eredivisie giants have accepted a fee of £33.3million - potentially rising to £36.6m - for the 26-year-old, with the move subject to personal terms being agreed.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur on the proposed move, Van de Beek said: "I wish him everything and hope he will do very well there.

"It is a step he deserves in my opinion. He is a fantastic football player, so I am confident that he will do well.

"I think it's a very nice club with a lot of young players that can grow.

"I think Hakim will certainly be in (the right) place. Everyone, of course, had their opinion about that, but I think it's a nice club for him."
