Donny van de Beek given transfer recommendation as Manchester United sent 'big club' warning

Here are your Tuesday morning Manchester United headlines.

Van de Beek given transfer recommendation

Celtic legend Neil Lennon believes a move to the Scottish Premiership giants could be just what Manchester United's Donny van de Beek needs to kickstart his career again.

The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 but has failed to make himself a regular at United. In 2022, Van de Beek joined Everton on loan but his opportunities were limited due to injury.

Erik ten Hag's arrival was meant to herald a return of the Van de Beek of old. However, even with a manager who was a big fan of his, the 26-year-old has failed to make the impact many expected.

After another injury, Van de Beek has returned to training but reports have suggested a loan move away from United could be on the cards. One club linked with him is Celtic and Lennon told The Go Radio Football Show the midfielder could rediscover his form in Scotland.

Kane message

Dwight Yorke has urged Manchester United to 'act like a big club' and beat Bayern Munich to Harry Kane's signature.

Erik ten Hag made the Tottenham Hotspur striker his number-one target but a deal looks unlikely. United are looking at alternative strikers as they are working under the assumption Daniel Levy won't sign off on selling him to a Premier League rival.

John Murtough is in talks with Atalanta for striker Rasmus Hojlund whilst Bayern Munich have seen two bids rejected for Kane. Yorke has urged United to show their stature and push ahead with a move for the England captain.

"If Harry Kane goes to Bayern Munich, it does concern me with the striker situation at Man United," Yorke told BoyleSports. "The striker position is probably the main reason that stopped us from getting close to Man City in the end."

Onana strength

Former Newcastle United and Portsmouth goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes Andre Onana would add a sense of leadership between the posts if he sealed a move to Manchester United.

United, as reported over the weekend, are making progress with a deal to sign the Inter Milan goalkeeper. Football director John Murtough is understood to have held talks with the Italian club in an attempt to get a deal in place.

The Reds are on the hunt for a new first-choice goalkeeper following David de Gea's exit and manager Erik ten Hag has identified Onana as his primary target. Ten Hag worked with the Cameroonian at Ajax and is keen to be reunited with him at Old Trafford.

Onana joined Inter last summer and excelled in his first season in Italy, helping them win two trophies and reach the Champions League final. He also recorded 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances.
