Donny van de Beek 'deserves' his transfer to Manchester United.
That's according to former Ajax and Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
Van de Beek is set to join the Reds on a deal worth around £40m from Ajax, and the 23-year-old has earned his chance to fly the Dutch flag on the biggest stage, at Old Trafford, according to former Spurs and Real Madrid man Van der Vaart.
"Donny deserves this transfer so much. He has played excellently for Ajax,’ he told Dutch outlet NOS.
"And Manchester United really need this kind of player in their team. ‘This transfer is fantastic for us [Dutch people] too. We are all going to follow him now.
"This move is so deserved."
United's initial interest in Van de Beek surfaced in the January window and after a quiet summer thus far, the Reds have circled back to the Dutchman.
The 10-time Netherlands international has been with Ajax since his youth days, earning a professional contract in 2015.
He has since netted 28 times in 118 league games, helping Ajax continue their dominance in Eredivisie.
