Donny van de Beek breaks Ajax players' silence after Chelsea agree £38m Hakim Ziyech transfer

Donny van de Beek has said that he hopes Hakim Ziyech does well at Chelsea.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Dutch media broke the news that the Blues had reached an agreement with last season's Champions League finalists to sign the Morocco international for £38m in the summer transfer window.

Latest reports suggests a deal is close to completion with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming that Ziyech has now agreed personal terms with the west London outfit.

The Ajax squad had been rather quiet on the speculation until van de Beek was asked about it following their 3-0 win over Vitesse on Wednesday night and he is very pleased for the attacking midfielder.

"Yes, if I hear all the reports, I will assume that it is already far. I do not know if it is completely finished," Van de Beek told  VoetbalPrimeur.

"I wish him everything and I hope he will do very well there.

"It is a step he deserves in my opinion.

"It is a fantastic football player, so I am confident that he will do well.

"I think it’s a very nice club with a lot of young players that can grow.

"I think Hakim will certainly be in place.

"Everyone of course has their opinion about that, but I think it's a nice club for him."

Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag also gave an update following the game.

"Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen," Ten Hag told Fox. "And I actually expected this one or two years earlier. And each time it was: 'Wow, he stayed again'.

"We are just happy that we will still have him until the end of the season."
