Donie O'Sullivan's roommates leap around the place as CNN star appears on Late Late Show

Donie O'Sullivan is a household name to CNN viewers, and he has legions of fans here too after his Late Late Show appearance on Friday night.

The Cahirsiveen native spoke about how Tayto crisps saved his life during the Capitol Hill chaos which saw four people killed as supporters of Donald Trump stormed the building back in January.

Speaking to host Ryan Tubridy, the reporter also revealed that he thinks Trump will indeed run for President again in 2024.

During the chat, Donie gave a shoutout to some of his colleagues at CNN - who had managed to tune in!

His ex-producer Samantha Barry tweeted a video of herself, Orlaith Farrell and John Riordan, Donie's colleagues, screaming with excitement as the Kerryman strode out onto set.

Donie told host Ryan exactly how he kept calm back in Januaryt, with the help of an old Irish friend.

"It was a long day, we didn't expect it to go that crazy. We started at 8am in the morning and were there 12 hours later and I hadn't eaten! I'm not usually one to miss a meal!

"My roommate at the time, who also works for CNN, was my producer for the day and I turned to her at 6pm and said 'I need some food'.

"Because she lives with me, she had grabbed a few things from the apartment. In the middle of the insurrection and the riots on Capitol Hill, and I'm there munching on a bag of cheese and onion Tayto! The Taytos got me through it."
