Donegal residents feel tremors as county hit by 2.4 magnitude earthquake

Local residents were shocked to feel earthquake tremors last night as a small quake struck off Donegal Bay between Slieve League and Mullaghmore.

It happened just before 11pm, with residents in Kilcar, Ardara and Ballyshannon all reporting feeling the movement.

The Irish National Seismic Network (INSN) confirmed that a 2.4 magnitude earthquake hit and said: "Events of this nature are not uncommon in the region."

They are asking those who may have felt the earthquake to fill in an online questionnaire here to help gather data on the event.
