A Donegal man killed in a tragedy in the UK last night has been named as 57-year-old George Tracey.

Mr Tracey was killed around 9pm as he was unloading materials from a lorry he had driven to Manchester.

The victim, who was from the West Donegal village of Crolly, was working for well-known haulier Martin Boyle Transport.

He had been working for the company for around four years.

Members of his family traveled to Manchester upon hearing the tragic news of Mr Tracey's tragic death.

The exact circumstances of the tragedy are not yet known.

However, a full investigation into the circumstances has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive.

It is believed the lorry contained a load of stone which was being unloaded at the time.

Mr Tracey had a partner and was the father of a number of children.

It is understood a post mortem on Mr Tracey's remains will be carried out tomorrow.
