Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce handed Dan Langley his second start of pre-season in the away friendly clash at Doncaster Rovers.
The encounter at the Keepmoat saw 3,300 Geordies descend on South Yorkshire with United looking to bounce back from their defeat at York City at the weekend.
United were also able to hand starts to Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin as they look to be ready for the big kick off next month.
Bruce named youngster Matt Bondswell, who arrived last season from RB Leipzig, and Academy graduates Jack Young, Tom Allan and Oisin McEntee on the bench.
Dwight Gayle was also sub once again with young stopper Max Thompson also on the sidelines.
