Doncaster Rovers boss Garry McSheffrey's Bolton Wanderers assessment ahead of League One clash

Doncaster Rovers boss Gary McSheffrey believes his side face 'good opposition' in the form of Bolton Wanderers this Good Friday in a key couple of fixtures for the Yorkshire side.

Wanderers make the journey to the Keepmoat Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on Friday and are aiming to finish as high up the top half of the League One table as possible.

For the hosts, however, all focus is remaining in the third tier of English football and sit five points from safety heading into the upcoming fixtures.

Doncaster gave themselves a glimmer of hope thanks to a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra last weekend, a result which relegated the Railwaymen to League Two.

Next up for Donny is the visit of Wanderers on Friday before taking on Shrewsbury Town on Easter Monday and McSheffrey has challenged his side to pick up three points against Wanderers and go back-to-back.

But he is under no illusions Doncaster face 'good opposition' in the form of Ian Evatt's side.

Speaking to the Doncaster Free Press, McSheffrey said: “The next win is always the hardest win and we’ve got it.

“The challenge to the players is can we keep it going? Can we go back-to-back?

“We’ve not gone back-to-back all season which obviously isn’t ideal.

“You look at the likes of Morecambe last week going back-to-back and it gets them closer, it gets them out of it for a week.

“So that’s the challenge.

“We know we’ve got good opposition coming here on Friday and then we go to Shrewsbury on Monday.

“The win against Crewe has got to give the lads confidence, belief, a clean sheet, a good win. It just gives us something to hold onto.”
