Doncaster Rovers caretaker manager Gary McSheffrey is hoping his players will step up to the big occasion when they take on Sunderland tomorrow.
McSheffrey, who is one of the candidates to have been interviewed for the vacant role, acknowledges it'll be a tough test for his side as they gear up to take on a "quality" Black Cats side.
Rovers have not played since their win over Shrewsbury on December 11th as a result of a number of positive Covid-19 cases, but will come into the League One clash refreshed.

“Christmas games are always good," said McSheffrey.
“I used to love going to them as a fan, and I used to love playing in them. There will be a buzz about the place, we’ve got a top team coming to play us with a lot of a travelling fans so it’ll be a good occasion and one that the players will thrive on.
“Hopefully the big crowd and the occasion gets the best out of our players.”
McSheffrey added: “Sunderland have got quality all over the pitch. They’ve got pace and they’ve got some clever players in attacking positions and aggressive defenders.
“They’ve hit some good form in the league."
