Donations come from all over the world to support fire family

The tragic death of three children in a Paisley house fire has seen people all over the world come together to help their devastated parents who have lost everything.

Money, clothes, food and household items have been donated by thoughtful members of the public from across the globe in a show of support to Alex Gibson and Julie Daley.

The blaze ripped through their home on Renfrew Road on Friday, killing their beloved children Fiona, 12, Alexander James, eight, and five-year-old Philip.

Mum Julie, 39, remains in the Royal Alexandra Hospital where her condition is no longer being treated as life-threatening,

Kind-hearted community members have come together to raise thousands of pounds, with two fundraisers - set up by a family friend and Julie’s colleagues at the RAH - so far raising almost £30,000.

Local community group KIDS of Gallowhill have been inundated with donations to help them get back on their feet.

Connor Gallagher, 26, who runs the group alongside four fellow Gallowhill residents, says they have been left completely overwhelmed.

He said: “This hasn’t just affected the people of Paisley. The news of this has spread far and wide and has become a tragedy nationally.

“People who don’t even live in Renfrewshire have seen what has happened and wanted to help.

“We have had people from all over the world helping out.

“The support from people has been amazing. What they are having to go through is unimaginable. They have lost everything.

“It doesn’t bear thinking about.

“People in the community just want to help.”

Fiona was described as a "wee shining light" and the boys will be remembered for their boundless energy, teachers say (paisley)

Alongside fellow members of the KIDS of Gallowhill group they arranged a drop off for kindhearted people to leave any donations.

Connor says they received almost 40 bags within just a few hours of putting out the appeal, with donations being handed in every day.

They have also been given more than 60kg of food alongside a number of household items.

Connor added: “You can’t fault the people of Paisley. This is an absolute tragedy and everyone has come together.

“We just wish it wasn’t in such horrible circumstances.”
