US president Donald Trump’s private plane has been spotted landing at Aberdeen Airport.

The black-and-white Boeing 757, also known as Trump Force One, was spotted touching down at the airport on Friday morning.

The private jet is frequently used by the Trump family and Trump Organisation officials and sports the family name in giant gold lettering at the front of the plane, while an American flag has been placed on its tail.

It is unknown who was onboard the Trump Boeing 757 when it touched down in Aberdeen.

The US president had flown to Turkey for a Nato summit onboard the new $400 million Air Force One, which was given to the US as a gift last year by the Qatari government, marking the aircraft's first international trip.

However, Trump flew from Turkey to England onboard the older Air Force One on Wednesday, saying he chose to do so “for old time’s sake”.

He added that he also wanted to “honour our brave men and women of the Military” by sending the new, and “truly spectacular”, Air Force One to Mildenhall Air Force Base in England, to “give them a chance to tour the aircraft”.

Concerns were raised with the Trump administration about security and conflicts of interest last year after it confirmed that it had accepted the gift of a Boeing 747 jetliner from Qatar.

One reporter asked the US president if the reason for the last-minute switch in planes was due to safety concerns.

They added: “You’ve spoken today twice about them possibly assassinating you and possibly being successful.”

Trump did not address the aircraft switch, but on the possible Iranian assassination attempts, he said: “I speak about it a lot because the life of a president is very dangerous.

“I’m No 1 on the kill list for Iran.”

When asked again why he was not on the new Air Force One, Trump said: “It’s flying to Europe to one of the big bases, two or three of the big bases, where we can show it to the people.

“We’ll be going home by normal methods, but we have it going to Europe, to a couple of bases, actually one in particular, but it’s going to go to a couple of bases so the soldiers can see it because it’s truly magnificent.”
