Donald Trump will fly to London days before December general election

Donald Trump will fly to London days before Britain goes to the polls.

The US president is set to attend a two-day Nato summit in the capital which starts on December 3.

Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn are both likely to seize on his presence to try to boost their election campaigns ahead of polling day on December 12.

The Tory leader will be able to use the summit to highlight his credentials as Prime Minister and Mr Trump could well seek to boost Mr Johnson’s campaign by highlighting close UK-US ties.

But the president’s arrival could offer Labour leader Mr Corbyn the chance to bolster his claim that the Government is pursuing a

“Trump-deal Brexit”, with Britain opening up to US imports such as pharmaceuticals and chlorinated chicken. Health Secretary Matt Hancock today faced questions over whether the price of NHS medicines would be part of a future UK-US trade deal. “It’s off the table,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

But he did not deny that UK and US trade officials had mentioned drug pricing at six meetings. “There has been no agreement and no formal meetings,” he added.
