A prominent supporter of Donald Trump has said there are "no such things as facts" in response to the criticisms over the President-elect's prolific, and at times controversial, output on Twitter.
Scottie Nell Hughes, a political commentator for CNN and the Political Editor of Right Alerts, a news website which claims to "break headlines without the liberal bias", made the comments while speaking on The Diane Rehm Show.
Ms Hughes has appeared across several media outlets representing President-elect Donald Trump both during the campaign period and after and said much of what Mr Trump tweets is true to a “certain crowd”.
“It is an idea of an opinion. On one hand I hear half the media saying that these are lies but on the other half there are many people who say, no, it’s true,” Ms Hughes said.
“One thing that has been interesting this entire campaign season to watch, is that people that say facts are facts - they’re not really facts.
"Everybody has a way of interpreting them to be the truth or not true. There are no such things, unfortunately, as facts.
“So Mr Trump’s tweets, amongst a certain crowd, a large part of the population, are truth,” she added.
The President-elect has repeatedly caused controversy over his posts on social media and this week suggested the Somali refugee student who went on a rampage at an Ohio campus should not have been in the country.
Abdul Razak Ali Artan moved to the US from Pakistan with his family in 2014 and became a legal permanent resident in 2015.
Mr Trump has also tweeted that millions of illegal votes cost him the popular vote victory, which Hillary Clinton currently leads by 2.5 million tweets.
There is no evidence of mass illegal voting.
