As the late, great Frank Sobotka once said: “We used to make s**t in this country, build s**t. Now all we do is put our hand in the next guy’s pocket.” Okay, sure, Frank may have been a fictional character from The Wire, but he was right, dammit!
Donald Trump clearly agrees, explaining in an interview that a key part of Making America Great Again is ensuring that new domestic factories producing complex electronics and equipment are built in the United States of America.
But, sadly, there’s one annoying problem. Americans are just too darn dumb to work in them. In his recent interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, the clearly shocked host pushed back as Trump dismissed millions of Americans as talentless morons who can’t be trusted with complex jobs:
He's outdone himself. Never mind. This is even crazier … and one of the most unAmerican things uttered by a President. pic.twitter.com/ODFoNcmq3O https://t.co/HBRMvphc3m

As Ingraham told Trump, “You can’t flood the country with tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of foreign workers!” Trump disagreed, saying that actually he can and totally will do that: “We also do have to bring in talent”. Ingraham pointed out, “We do have talent!”.
Trump sadly shook his head and muttered “no you don’t, no you don’t…”. A visibly surprised Ingraham responded, “We don’t have talent here?”. Trump shook his head, saying that unemployed Americans are so stupid they can’t even be trained to do this work: “You can’t take people off an unemployment line and say I’m going to put you into a factory to make missiles.”
Welcoming Chinese students with open arms
Fortunately, it seems that China is ready and waiting to fill America’s talent gap. In the same interview, Trump told Ingraham (who said she was “not thrilled” about 600,000 Chinese students coming here) that:
Trump says he’s letting 600,000 Chinese students into the US because he knows that’s what MAGA wants.

“We have a massive system of colleges and universities and if were to cut that in half – which would make some people happy – you would have half the colleges and universities in the United States go out of business. … I actually think it’s good to have [students from] outside countries!”
The overall message here is, in a darkly amusing twist, the precise economic politics MAGA rails against. Focusing on growing the economy by prioritizing companies and organizations that can import workers from other countries over improving the lives of regular Americans is, broadly, the corporatist Democrat position!
America first? Not anymore. It seems Americans should head to the back of the queue behind the smarter, harder-working, and just more talented immigrants! Don’t like it? I’m afraid you simply can’t be trusted to do the work without screwing it up. Sorry!
