Donald Trump promoted sovereignty over globalisation at the United Nations today, telling world leaders to put their own country first.
The US president said at the United Nations General Assembly in New York: "The future does not belong to globalists, the future belongs to patriots.”
He said the current low levels of unemployment in the US are because “we are focused on empowering the dreams and aspirations of our citizens”.
And he went on to hit out at open border policies, saying this “empowers criminal organisations”.
Mr Trump said: “Today I have a message for those open border activists who cloak themselves in the rhetoric of social justice: your policies are not just.
“Your policies are cruel and evil.
"You are empowering criminal organisations that prey on innocent men, women and children."
He went on: “You put your own false sense of virtue before the lives, wellbeing and countless innocent people.
"When you undermine border security, you are undermining human rights and human dignity."
Mr Trump also rounded on Iran, saying the international community must come together to not “subsidise Iran’s bloodlust”.
