Donald Trump has said it is "foolish" to test people for coronavirus because it makes the number of cases in the country go up.
The US president told a crowd during a rally that the reason why the US has so many Covid-19 cases is because of increased testing.
During a campaign rally in Lumberton, North Carolina, he said: "You know why we have cases? It’s because we test so much.
"In a lot of ways it’s good, and in a lot of ways it’s foolish."
He added: "If we tested half, cases would be half."

His comments came after it was reported that 83,000 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the US on Friday, bringing the total number to 8.5 million.
On Saturday, Trump voted in his adopted home of Florida before hitting the campaign trail for rallies in three swing states.
He cast his ballot at a library in West Palm Beach, near his Mar-a-Lago resort.
After voting, he told reporters: "I voted for a guy named Trump."

With only 10 days to go in the campaign, about 54.2 million Americans have already cast early ballots.
During a rally in Florida on Friday, Trump promised supporters that the coronavirus pandemic would end soon.
He also accused Democratic rival Joe Biden of overstating the health crisis to scare Americans into voting for him.
But Biden said during a speech in his home city of Wilmington, Delaware: "He's quit on America. He just wants us to grow numb.
"I'm not going to shut down the economy. I'm not going to shut down the country. I'm going to shut down the virus."
Researchers at the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation warned on Friday the virus could kill more than half a million people in the United States by the end of February 2021.
Roughly 130,000 lives could be saved if everybody wore masks, according to the study.
