Donald Trump's son attacks Hillary Clinton as 'arrogant and entitled' on her birthday

Donald Trump’s eldest son has attacked Hillary Clinton as “entitled” on her birthday.

Last year on 26 October, Hillary Clinton’s official Twitter account posted, “Happy birthday to this future president”, along with a photo of the young Ms Clinton.

This year, Donald Trump Jr tweeted a photo of the post, writing: “A year later the arrogance and entitlement in this tweet is exactly why it was never going to happen. #maga.”

Ms Clinton won the popular vote by almost three million votes last year. But the elder Trump won the Electoral College, a body of 538 members who select the president based on the popular vote in each state.

This means that the candidate who gets the most votes nationally doesn't necessarily win the election.

In September, the former Secretary of State called for the end of the electoral college, suggesting that it was in part to blame for her surprise loss.

“I think it needs to be eliminated,” she said during an interview with CNN. “I'd like to see us move beyond it, yes.”

Before the election, Mr Trump also railed against the Electoral College, calling it “a disaster for democracy”.

Ms Clinton has also attributed her defeat to interference by Russian hackers.

US intelligence agencies have confirmed that Russia meddled in last year’s presidential race, and multiple congressional committees – as well as special counsel Robert Mueller – are currently investigating alleged ties between Trump campaign advisers and the Kremlin.
