Donald Trump's 'massive Muslim problem' in the UK claim prompts Twitter response

Social media users have been ridiculing Donald Trump’s claim the UK has a “massive Muslim” problem".

The businessman, who is currently running for president, has come under fire for his call to ban Muslims from entering the US.

He was also criticised for accusing the UK of having a problem with Islamaphobia.

On Twitter, the hashtag #massivemuslimproblems has been spreading – but perhaps not for the reasons Mr Trump would want.

Mr Trump today praised Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins, tweeting his thanks for her "powerful writing on the U.K.'s Muslim problems."

He has faced world wide condemnation from figureheads such as David Cameron, Benjamin Netanyahu, Barack Obama and Boris Johnson for his anti-Muslim comments and a petition calling to ban him from the UK has passed 380,000 signatures
