Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for Boris Johnson by wading into debate over blocking a no-deal Brexit.

The US President insisted it would be "very hard" for Jeremy Corbyn to seek a no confidence vote" because Mr Johnson is "exactly what the UK has been looking for."

It comes days after his meeting with Mr Johnson at the G7 summit, where he spoke warmly about the British prime minister.

The US President signed off his tweet saying: "Love UK."

He wrote: "Would be very hard for Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party, to seek a no-confidence vote against New Prime Minister Boris Johnson, especially in light of the fact that Boris is exactly what the U.K. has been looking for, & will prove to be “a great one!” Love U.K."

Mr Trump's support comes at a crucial moment for Mr Johnson after Downing Street confirmed reports that he had made a requested to the Queen to prorogue Parliament.

The news was met by intense backlash from MPs across the party divide.

The Queen then approved the order later on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Trump also spoke about Mr Johnson is glowing terms at the G7 summit, insisting he is the "right man" to deliver Brexit.

Asked what his advice was for Brexit, the US president - who promised a "very big trade deal" with the UK - said: "He needs no advice, he is the right man for the job."

He added: "I've been saying that for a long time, it didn't make your predecessor very happy, but I've been saying it for a long time."

Mr Johnson responded: "You're on message there."

Commenting on the PM, after being asked about sealing a trade deal with the UK at the G7 this weekend, Mr Trump said: "So, I spoke with Boris Johnson. I think he’s going to be a great Prime Minister. I think he’s going to do a fantastic job. I’ve known him.

"A lot of people know that we have a very good relationship. I think he’ll be far superior. I think he’ll do something that will be a very — I think he’s going to be very important for the UK. I think he’s going to be very important.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump also slammed the EU, saying they "have not treated the UK very well."

"That’s a very tough bargain they’re driving, the European Union. That’s a very tough bargain."
