Donald Trump makes major concession in US Presidency battle as transition finally begins

President Donald Trump has taken a major step towards acknowledging Joe Biden has won the US Election tonight.

The President has authorised for the transition process to finally begin in a series of tweets.

Ordinarily this happens shortly after the result is announced, but this time it was caught up in Trump's ongoing legal challenges across the country.

Emily Murphy, the Administrator of the General Services Administration, had refused to release funds for President-elect Biden and his staff to begin working towards taking power in January.

The 47-year-old from Missouri had reportedly taken the highly unusual step out of loyalty to President Trump.

However tonight on Twitter, President Trump said: "I want to thank Emily Murphy at GSA for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country. She has been harassed, threatened, and abused – and I do not want to see this happen to her, her family, or employees of GSA.

"Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same."

The move follows a string of legal defeats for the President in recent days, with more and more states certifying the result despite his efforts to paint what is a wildly inaccurate picture of massive voter fraud leading to his defeat.
