According to a new BBC docuseries, ‘Trump Takes on on the World’, ex-President Donald Trump offered Kim Jong-Un a ‘ride home’ after a summit in Hanoi.
The well-documented bromance between Trump and the North Korean leader sparked following back and forth threats between the pair during Trump's time in office.
During a summit in Singapore back in 2018, Trump allegedly invited Mr. Kim to have a look inside his presidential car, a Cadillac also known as "The Beast", which is worth a reported $1.5m.
Trump then "stunned even the most seasoned diplomats" by offering Mr. Kim a lift home on Air Force One after the 2019 summit in Vietnam.
If Jong-un had said yes to the offer, it would have seen him, along with his entourage, onboard the US president's state aircraft entering North Korean airspace.
The trip would have reportedly raised a number of serious security issues, however, according to the documentary, Mr. Kim turned the offer down.
Speaking to the BBC, Mathew Pottinger, a top Asia expert of the National Security Council said; "President Trump offered Kim a lift home on Air Force One.
"The president knew that Kim had arrived on a multi-day train ride through China into Hanoi and the ex-president said: 'I can get you home in two hours if you want.' Kim declined."
Most recently, Mr. Kim said the US is still his nation's "biggest enemy", and that Washington's "policy against North Korea will never change" regardless of who is in power.
Episode three in the docuseries, 'Trump Takes on the World' will air tomorrow night (February 24) on BBC Two at 9:00 pm.
