Donald Trump leaves White House for final time ahead of Joe Biden's inauguration

Donald Trump has departed the White House for the final time ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration later today.

The outgoing US president was seen leaving the Capitol building on Wednesday morning to board the Marine One helicopter.

Trump then addressed a rally of supporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

He will then fly out to Florida instead of attending Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration later at the Capitol this afternoon.

The 74-year-old will become the first living outgoing president to snub his successor swearing in for more than 150 years.

Trump ominously told supporters that he is not done yet saying that his time in office is “just the beginning”.

Hours before being booted from office Trump issued 73 pardons and 70 commutations, including of political ally Steve Bannon who was facing trial for fraud.

Nicola Sturgeon offered a dismissive “don’t haste ye back” to the outgoing president as the First Minister addressed MSPs today.

The comments came after speculation that Donald Trump would jet off to Scotland to play golf.

"I'm sure many of us across the chamber and across Scotland will be very happy to say cheerio to Donald Trump today," Sturgeon said at the Scottish Parliament.

"I think 'don't haste ye back' might be the perfect rejoinder to him."

She added: “In advance of the inauguration later on I think we'll all want to send our congratulations to soon-to-be President Biden and soon-to-be vice president Kamala Harris”
