Donald Trump launches re-election bid with 76 minute speech containing 15 lies

Donald Trump launched his official bid for re-election to the White House with a 76-minute speech containing 15 lies.

The President addressed a raucous crowd of 20,000 and spoke of a country under “siege”.

He attacked US immigration, Hilary Clinton, the media and the Democrats.

He boasted under his leadership, America was “now the number-one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world”.

In fact, the US became the world’s largest supplier four years before Trump took office under President Obama.

He also bragged about the environment, saying: “Our air and water are the cleanest they’ve ever been, by far.”

US air quality is now getting worse, according to the American Lung Association.

Supporters, in Orlando, Florida, cheered when he spoke about tax cuts. He claimed: “We passed the largest package of tax cuts and reforms in US history – the largest.”

But experts described this statement as a “bottomless Pinocchio claim”, being only the eighth-largest on record.

Appearing alongside his wife Melania, Trump also attacked the Democrats over his failed border wall with Mexico, saying they had voted for it 2006, but only a handful were in favour.

Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders blasted the President for “an hour-and-a-half speech of lies, distortions and total absolute nonsense”.
