Donald Trump Jr. wears 'witch hunt' costume with girlfriend for Halloween and takes aim at Democrats

Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle are taking a leaf out of First Lady Melania Trump’s handbook, taking aim at their critics with a carefully-chosen outfit.

The son of President Donald Trump and his girlfriend went in a baffling Halloween couples’ costume - which Trump later clarified was a “witch hunt”.

Trump Jr. wore a camouflage-print outfit and hat, also opting to carry around hunting bow and arrows. Guilfoyle wore a witch’s costume, complete with a pointy purple and black hat.

Pictures of the couple in full costume were shared on Instagram by Trump Jr., who also geotagged their location as “The Swamp” - a reference to a political slogan that Trump coined over his election saying that he would “drain the swamp” in the White House.

Trump Jr. clarified the costume for his Instagram followers, writing, “Witch Hunt!!! Happy Halloween folks!”

He also took aim at the Democratic party, writing, “With all the bullsh*t the Democrats are throwing out here we just couldn’t resist.”

He also tagged the post #witchhunt, #halloween, #halloweencostume and #trickortreat.

Guilfoyle followed suit with another picture of herself in the witch costume which she also tagged “The Swamp” and used to promote her boyfriend's book. Hers included the hashtags #BRBwitchhunting, #witchhunt, #comeandgetit and #MAGA.

Trump Jr.’s decision to dress in hunting gear is a controversial choice for the son of the president, as during his father’s bid for the presidency photos of him posing with dead animals, animal parts and hunting surfaced - shining a light on his hobby of big game hunting.

One photo depicted Trump Jr. holding up the severed tail of an African elephant and others depicted him and his brother Eric holding up a hunted leopard and standing underneath a strung up alligator.

He faced criticism from organisations including PETA, who suggested dressing as him for Halloween and said, “There’s nothing more frightful than an entitled ghoul who gets his kicks from gunning down wild animals.”

Trump Jr. tweeted, then deleted a response to the criticism saying, “Not a PR move I didn't give the pics but I have no shame about them either. I HUNT & EAT game.”

He also said in an interview with Deer & Hunting, “I guess within the hunting community, a lot of people gave me some credit for that. It gave me more flack from the other guys but if they’re not gonna understand or they don’t choose to, I could care less.”
