Just when Americans thought it was safe to go back to the White House - bookies have offered odds that Donald Trump jr could become president in four years time.
Coral and Ladbrokes are laying odds of 33/1 that the 42-year-old businessman will take over from Joe Biden as ‘leader of the free world’.
The news comes as online political commentators claim the 2024 US election could be a two-horse race between former Democratic president Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, and Don jr, for the Republicans.
A spokesman for Coral said they weren’t offering specific odds for a race between the two but were taking a close look at the potential 2024 candidates.
He explained: “Coral is not offering odds on that particular outcome, however we are offering odds of 33-1 about Michelle Obama winning the 2024 US Presidential election, and the same odds about Donald Trump jr winning in four years time.
“So it’s certainly possible that there could be another Obama or Trump in the White House once more in the not too distant future.”
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes confirmed the bookies are also taking bets on 2024 already.
She said they have seen more wagers on Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle than Donald Trump giving it a third attempt.
And she added: “Punters believe the former First Lady is in with a shot of becoming POTUS, and her odds have been cut accordingly."
Ladbrokes have odds of 25/1 for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Ivanka Trump becoming president and have already taken wagers on Meghan Markle entering the race for the White House.
